Albert S. Anderson is the principal attorney in the firm. Mr. Anderson is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Emory University, majoring in mathematics. He received a Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 1968, based on research in nuclear physics using real time data acquisition and analysis under digital computer control. From 1968 through 1978, Mr. Anderson was a research and development engineer at Lockheed-Georgia Research Laboratory. After graduating from Emory Law School, Mr. Anderson entered the private practice of law in 1978. In addition to providing legal advice and opinions in all areas of intellectual property law, Mr. Anderson maintains a trademark prosecution practice, a patent prosecution practice for cases in the mechanical, electrical, applied physics and computer-related arts, and a litigation practice in patent, unfair competition, and trade secret matters, especially those involving complex issues in science and technology. Drawing on his training in the basic science of physics, Mr. Anderson has handled litigation matters in diverse technology areas, including particle analysis by gas adsorption and mercury intrusion, electronic instruments and circuit components, nuclear fuel rod transport containers, vaccine preparation from attenuated viruses, container labeling machines, and silicone gel preparation, among others. Mr. Anderson has been lead counsel in a number of patent and unfair competition litigation matters, including both jury and non-jury trials. He also has experience in appeals to both the Eleventh and Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Because of the federal nature of most intellectual property rights, Mr. Anderson limits his litigation practice to the Federal Courts system.
